My father introduced me to topography at an early age, when he’d ask me to help him during his assignments taking measurements on the field. I soon developed a keen sense of space and proportion that led me to choose technical drawing for construction as my profession. When I changed career at age 29 to diving and boating, I realized I could represent the topography of underwater reefs using the same methods I employed for buildings and town plans. Consequently, I decided to map every divesite I visited and began constructing aerial views. With time, this eventually evolved into the 3D depictions I draw today. These reef representations have appeared in several publications, including my diving guides of South Egypt and Raja Ampat.
